Hi, I’m Kyle
Lead Guide & Founder
I was introduced to backpacking young as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout in North Carolina. I spent years hiking through the Appalachian Mountains — learning to read a trail, set up camp, and find my footing in the wilderness. Some of my best memories are from those trips with my troop and with my family. I now call San Francisco home and have spent the last 2 years exploring California!
I’m an Eagle Scout with years of backpacking experience across the Appalachians and California’s Sierra Nevada mountain ranges. I’ve organized and led multi-day trips for friends — including a Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne and a Lake Aloha trip — handling everything from permits to logistics.
Why I Do This
Backpacking takes you somewhere that a hotel or a day hike simply can’t. You slow down, you unplug, and you experience nature the way it was meant to be experienced — waking up to it, falling asleep under it, earning every view with your own two feet.
The wilderness has a way of stripping everything back to what matters, and I want as many people as possible to experience that.
Last year I introduced my fiancée to her first multi-day backpacking trip at Lake Aloha in the Sierra Nevada — and ended up proposing to her on the shore of the lake. The mountains have given me so much, and now I want to share that with others.
Our Mission
Just Adventure Co. exists to get people off the beaten path and into true wilderness — the kind you can only reach on foot with a pack on your back. Whether it’s your first overnight trip or your tenth, we believe the backcountry has something to teach everyone. Our job is simply to get you there safely and make sure you have the time of your life doing it.
